“If honey bees become extinct, human society will follow in four years.” –Albert Einstein

Hundreds of thousands of honey bees have died or vanished this year! The phenomenon referred to as Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) or Vanishing Bee Syndrome (VBS) affects the United States and countries all over the world, some losing up to 75% of their hives. The cause is unknown, but some researchers have suggested environmental stress, pesticides, electromagnetic radiation from cell phones or genetically modified crops.

Honey bees date back 35 million years and aside from making sweet honey and beeswax, they pollinate many flowers and crops, including almonds, peaches, soybeans, apples, pears, cherries, raspberries, blackberries, cranberries and strawberries.

God Bless the Bees!
